04/22/09.- Hola Amigos,
Last March, I was at the Rancho Cucamonga Bass Pro Shop Store.
This was for the great 2009 Spring Fishing Classic. Once there, I had the opportunity to share my Fishing Experiences with the Southern California Fishermen.
This time was California, but we are planning to be at other stores, so keep checking the store events in your area.

Besides the fishing pictures showing beautiful scenarios, I talked to them about the successful way to fish at famous El Salto.
Believe me, they got surprised about the way we catch the trophies at El Salto.
I also showed them the “Hono Rig”, which is one of the most successful event equally for Pros and Tournament winners, as they never used this before, but they were surprised how effective can be.

Randy Strada, the 2006 Las Vegas Tournament Winner, was fishing with us the first week of March.
He is a real Pro and he knows the Hono Rig, so you guys be careful as he can probably beat the next Trophy Record at El Salto on his next visit.
I know you must be aware about the quality of a Gamakatsu 5/0 WG Hook; well Randy witnessed when a 10 pounder bend one of those hooks and after a big battle and as it got close to the boat, got away and just spit it up 10` from the boat. Unbelievable !
This Time Randy was fishing for a week in Mexico; 3 days at Lake Comedero where he had good experiences, but nothing like the Trophies that showed up only at famous Lake El Salto. He fished for 3 days with us too.

I encourage you to get only the accurate Fishing Tackle according to the suggested list we provide when you book a trip with us.
El Salto Trophies are very picky and they just want the best lure with the specific size.
For instance, a common occurence I see is some people bring Big Baits thinking they will catch bigger fish, but this is not true. The behavior of the fish is if the bait can fit into its mouth, then they eat it.
Since they live in the wild, and they just have one chance to have that meal, they act like that, so if the bait can hurt them, they do not eat it because their gills are very soft. The lures we suggest are very attractive and active, so the bass is always chasing them; the ambush is the best to catch them.
In order to play the game of the big fish, it has to be the right bait. However, our guide will tell you which one to use and where to cast according to the spot, the hour, etc. If you follow their guidance you will succeed and surpass your skills and probably break your personal records.
Last Week I fished for 4 days with a TV & Hall of Fame Bob Mehsikomer and his website is www.simplyfishingmagazine.com; let me tell you, he really enjoyed the beautiful Trophies of Lake El Salto. You will have news from Bob & Hono in a TV Show. If you live in the middle east as well as the Minnessota area you will be the first to watch this show.

01/19/09.- As usual, just really good news from Lake El Salto.
These are just one of the trophies you will be able to catch this season. We just started season 08/09 and take a look of this Amazing Trophy, a beauty of 14 Lb, Some trophies are showing up,5 trophies were caught, but fall and winter are so crazy, in numbers and sizes. You won`t believe it.
Larry a repeated customer, who comes three times a year, was trying to make me feel bad. He told me “ Hono today was one of those days at El Salto. He added, I just caught no more than 27 bass. However, I caugh one 7 Lb., one 9 Lb. And one 11 Lb. The rest were in the range of 2 to 5 Lbs. It was a terrible day. Ha ha ha.
Two of the fish caught were on Hono`s secret Lure. And the Trophy on Hono`s favorite Lure, Rico.

It is time to talk about the right Rod & Reel.
We had some people Fishing for the first time at El Salto. Let me tell you they learned the hard way about it.
They brought a really Light rod and they were trying to catch a Lake El Salto Bass.
They were really dissapointed with the equipment they brought . The reel was OK but not the rod as they couldn`t hold the fish because it was not the right one.
El Salto Bass is very, very aggressive and fight a lot, so you must have the right rod to fight these beauties.
Hono`s favorite rods are 6.5’ M, for top water lures, hard baits and soft baits. As well as a 7’ MH for any kind of bait when you want to play on deep Waters.
I do not recommend the H rods for El Salto, because you need to work really hard and this kind of rod does not allow you handle the right way. These are heavy and hard with your arms.
For instance, last Summer, we had some customers and they brought these kind of rods. They told me “ Hono when we were casting, we were not expecting to cath any fish, because the rod was so heavy and a 10 Lb. Bass will be too much for it “.
Let me tell you, at the end of the day, they had to use cold water for their hands, arms and shoulder as they were really sored.

11/4/08.- Hola Amigos ! As usual, good news from Lake El Salto México.
This Fishing Report will surprise you because the results were unbelievable !!!
As every year the group of MDM Supply brings the Incentive Group and we were very happy to say hi to old and new friends. They were excited to enjoy the fishing spots in Lake El Salto and Mazatlan. They all are serious fishermen. They enjoyed a bass fishing tournament full of fun and success, as well as a Deep Sea Fishing Tournament in the Emerald waters of the Mar de Cortez.
Well, speaking of the Lake El Salto Tournament, the Rules were: First Bass, Most Fish, and Trophy Bass.
Also the Marlin Derby Mazatlan was truly a success with awesome results.

Over 330 fish were caught on these two days, which it is not a surprise. This mean each Fisherman caught 20.6 Bass per person !!!

The latest Group of 2 of them was a Pro Kayak Fishermen, Mark Pierpont; he is the proud winner of the La Jolla kayak fishing Tournament, the biggest Halibut, caught on Kayaks.

He won a prize of 2 days fishing at Lake El Salto With Hono Elizalde, plus 2 days fishing on Mazatlan chasing Los Gallos ( Rooster Fish).
One day Guiding and one Kayaking, both was a fantastic, the fishing action turn to the deep waters, you Know, summer heat, so the fish wants to be on coolers waters.

Swing baits & Fat free Lures were the key, the other part of the group were tow couples an 4 guys, all of them caught there trophies, 2 of the biggest 13.5, and was tow ladies, Annette & Summer, about 13 bass over 10 Lb. in those tree days, the fishing was phenomenal, on the briefing we took about, the lake levels, temperature, an the perfect lure to catch a big fish, so they prefer to use my tackle so it was the best decision, 4 lures was the most productive, top water, medium waters & deep divers.
As you know, Hono spend a lot of time testing the lures, to get the best tackle recommendation, not just to catch a fish, this tackle is to catch some trophies.

Hono coached a good fellow and showed him the most accurate tricks to catch a trophy.
Jeff , after a few sections he started to get new skills, also, he got involved, on this new world.
As he brings his new reel, he felt like the best fishermen!

Deep Sea Fishing Report
Last week it was exceptional. Mark, Terry, Jeff & Annette, spent the first day on Serena sport fishing.
we took the two hours chasing the Pez Gallo( Rooster Fish); we got a couple of hits, but the waters werr not the right for those.
Therefore, we moved to the Mahi-Mahi ( Hono Fish) we caught, the first day almost 60 Mahi-Mahi, we landed almost 26, the reason was we were playing light tackle and it was a lot of fun.
We had 4 lines trolling, and here is the secret, it was the kind of live bait.
Any way, trolling or casting, the second day just Mark And Terry, caught a 40 Mahi-Mahi, next day with Serena again, same light tackle, over 40 Mahi-Mahi, 2 Bonitas, and few Sierra Macarelas.
last day at Serena, Mahi-Mahi and 90 Lb. Sail Fish as a closure on this amazing fishing trip.

Doctor Duncan McBride is the lucky fisherman, who after 2 Amazing fishing days at Lake El Salto caught this trophy.
A Group of 6 people that recently fished El Salto, when they booked their reservation, they asked for a picture from El Salto and asked for the water level. We gave them the information. However, they were really surprised when they arrived to El Salto as now in the middle of the raining season, water levels are 102%. Of course ! They were amazed for the kind of trophies they were able to catch at famous Lake El Salto.
Each boat, the first day, they met El Salto and its trophies they were pleasantly surprised as they got the most fun out of it. Well, you know because of the fishing action they were able to achieve. They caught 48 to 80 bass per boat. The biggest one was the one for 14 Lbs. and several in the range of 10, 11, 9, 6, 7.
Hono´s Tackle list is really working great. They decided to rent our Gear & Tackle and they had the best of the best fishing action of their lives.
This was their second time at El Salto and they already booked their third trip for next March as they will bring their kids. Of course ! They do not want to miss the awesome fishing action at Lake El Salto!

07/31/08.- As usual, Just good news from Lake El Salto. These are just few comments from my latest costumers.
“ Domingo from TX.; Hono, my fishing partner & I have bet, first fish, most fish and big fish, the price was, a curado shimano Reel & G-lemus 7’ Rod, over 500 USD, but after the first few cast we cancelled the bet. About 15 fish, on top water lures. And here is the fishing report.
The first day I was a fishing machine as I caught 115 fish, my partner the same,. Of course, this was because we were using the tackle you suggested. We caught a lot of fish and my biggest was 9 Lb. but over fifty five, from 4 to 8 Lb.

As soon as we came back to the lodge, we took a nice shower and delicious dinner and we recovered our energy. Since the Lodge is right on the beach, we desired to make a few casts on the surf We caught few red snapper and came back to the palapa and have a few beers and couple of Margaritas. After that we got ready to get a nice sleep and get ready for the next fishing day.

Second day we just used the big fish lure. By the middle of the fishing day we were so tired, but we did not want to change the lure we were casting, and we were so tired and thinking, please do not bite. This is true, the monster showed up & we were so tired, and had to fish 4 more hours. 75 landed per person, but we lost at least 25 because they are so strong, no matter if it was a 3 to11Lb. all of them fight a lot, I caught 3 10 Lb. my partner, caught one of 11 Lb. huff!
Third Day ; the monsters showed up, almost in all kind of lures, it does not matter if it was a top water medium or deep water lure, just the ones Hono suggested when he sent the tackle list. Again we caught 500 between 4 fishermen that day. This was only two boats, but there was a guy on a Kayak, and one more single guy on another boat, and the same history a lot of fish, lost of trophies, and the last thing, I never caught a fish before when using the Hono´s lures recommendation, but I did at El Salto because of the size and technique. Using these here at Lake El Salto are so different, we are sure if we use the same lures from our home lake (Lake Fork) we will not have the same action!
We already have reservations for this winter 2008 & I will take my whole family, and fishing Partners. Hono see you there in December 20/08.

David From TX; I can explain the success what we have here, at Lake El SALTO, but I have to tell you, the last night, I was so tired, my hands & arms, so I had to soak my hands in iced water in order to get a little comfort and it was the only way to get relaxed. I know the Domingo fishing report is a reality.

We provide with a list of lures, which it is guarantee you will catch your trophy, on the time frame you are planning to be at the lake; of course, this means, your personal guide will be guiding you to include everything, high levels & low levels, trees, rock, walls, roadbeds, etc.
The reason we do not specify a list of lures in the web, is because fishing at Lake El Salto, is different day by day, month and year. We are the ones advising our loyal customers what to bring according to the dates they are coming. We are not irresponsible by posting a bunch of lures as some people could buy thousand and thousand of tackle and find out these are not working at El Salto by the time they come to fish.
The list we give to you, is the best way, you will find specials and good prices at tackle stores near to you.
Anyway if you don’t want to carry your tackle, due to the problems with the air companies, etc., Hono will be happy to supply this on your behalf; the tackle Fee is only $70.00 USD per person per day of fishing, and you only, will bring the reels you love.
