El Salto Adventures dba Amazing Outdoors Tours has the record of 16.10 Lbs at Lake El Salto; this was caught by Mike S. And it was a Christmas present for him. The trip was a present for him and his son from his lovely wife as well. The historical date was December 26th. 2001, and the time was 7:30 AM. The weather was warm at 74 F but it was freezing for us Mexicans hahaha. As many of you may be aware, “Winter” temperatures are very pleasant at Mazatlan and Lake El Salto.
This amazing trophy, like many other was released back to El Salto waters, so it is roamming its waters and it is indeed a MAMMOTH BASS now, so wait no more and head El Salto to hunt this amazing Lobina and make sure to bring strong rod and line as it will fight like crazy. Dare to break your own record and the one we described above. We will be happy to post your pic holding the beauty at our HALL OF FAME page.

The Master Guide of basselsalto.com has been a witness of several record breaks at Lake El Salto; hundreds of customers/friends. But I can tell you, YOU can be included in our HALL OF FAME. All you need is book your trip and hire the best Guiding Service around and of course, the right tackle and there you are: Task accomplished. It is indeed the combination of having the right guide and the right tackle at the right time.
Here you can see John M. Holding his beauty of 12.5 Lbs. Of course, he broke his own record and caught the biggest fish than Mike A. These two friends from Colorado come at least twice a year.
He even registered the event at the IGFA and it is featured on the website This is true as we always use certified scales; we never lie about the weight of the fish – like other outfitters hahaha -, all of them are tested before going fishing early in the morning, no matter if it is Digital, Manual or Spring; however we still use the bass formula to make sure about it.
It is almost time that John M and Mike A head to Lake El Salto for their first trip of the year and we are pretty sure they are looking at the Summer Trophies that are abundant at El Salto.

Hola Mike A. Let`s talk about Mike. He is indeed one of those HARDCORE BASS FISHERMEN; as many of our customers/friends, he has a timeshare or full time condo in Mazatlan. He has the opportunity to fish all year long; I am talking about any month of the year. He fishes 6 times every time he comes. He enjoys DAY TRIPS and he is very successful every day he goes to El Salto.
He spents most of the Winter Season at his Lakeshore house in Lake Toho in Florida ( Okeechobee ); although he is able to travel anywhere, he always come back to El Salto, his favorite spot in the world !
I know him since 16 years ago, almost when I started my business and we are very good friends. I remember he broke a record in 3 day trips with 425 bass caught at Lake El Salto by himself !!!
Mike & John caught 850 Bass in 3 days trips and believe me, that is totally a record ! But the record they have is catching 37 Lake El Salto Bass in the range of 8 Lbs and the largest was a 11.13 Lbs. That`s right ! They did not want any break time, no siesta, not fishing until dark; all of these in 10 hours. They are serious hardcore fishermen.
Mike enjoys his time at El Salto and the fact that he comes back to Mazatlan around 6:00pm, so he can get a shower and get ready to enjoy a nice dinner with his wife and daughter.

Now, we have the most consistent as well as hardcore fishermen; Vincent and Gary are related; Vincent is from Florida and Gary is from Texas. These guys are awesome; they always fish for 3 days and they usually come the last week of November and the first week of December. The pot they have is whomever catching the biggest fish of day, it will have the privilege of using the middle sit. Let me tell you, Vincent is the one having more than 4 years fishing in the middle sit hahaha, so it means he is the winner !
Sorry Gary; I know you are the winner in numbers, but the pot is still on until next December.

Hola Horacio ! As many of our customers/friends, Horacio likes to bring his own rig, a Ranger Reata. He lives in Guadalajara and it is a short drive. Well when you have a big family and lots of friends you need a big boat right ? The record he has is in both numbers and sizes. He loves to fish in Texas, California, Arizona and many lakes in Mexico.
The numbers are always there, but during his last visit the first week of May, the first cast was in top water lure and bang ! he caught a beauty of 10 Lbs.
Of course ! He always hire one of our best guides to insure great success at El Salto.

Hi John M. We know you must be missing your long time fishing partner, Mr. Sullivan. He is being gone for 4 years and we all miss him. Let us pray for him and hopes he is RIP.
We know you and your fishing partner were able to test one of the most successful lures here at Lake El Salto. And of course, this was a very successful one as you caught several fish in the range of 8 to 13 Lbs and least 10 per day.
Anyway, I have a fishing partner for you. Tom C is from Iowa and the is always looking for a partner. I am sure you remember him as we had dinner in Mazatlan some time ago.

Hola Tag ! This guy is amazing ! The first time he fished with us, it was totally a surprise to find out he was using the same Bass Fishing Techniques I use. He can bring his mother one day and his fianceč the other.
Surprisingly his tackle matched my own tackle; a great selection of lures I had tested before. Rest assured he was very succesful.
By the way, we have the record of Tag showing he caught 3 fish in one cast ! Yeah ! amazing right ?
The record of Tag is he was able to catch 3 fish in 15 minutes in the range of: 1st 6.3 Lbs., 2nd 11.4 Lbs. 3rd 10.1 Lbs.
Tag is also a very reputable Washington State Pro with many records at his home lakes.

Anyway, guys get ready and start booking your trips to head famous Lake El Salto, home of the records. You will have the same opportunities to appear in our HALL OF FAME.

Lake El Salto Bass.
