As a Professional Guide, my personal record is a fish of 16.10 Pounds, but with those trophies roaming El Salto waters, you can easily break this record on your next trip to El Salto.

1. When is the best time to catch a big fish at Lake El Salto ?
Well, let me tell you, as a Pro-guide, the game we play is to coach you about the best way to catch a Big Fish.
That`s right ! You will learn the how and you will play with your tools way before your arrival.
In other words, you just pick your fishing Dates and start tracking the best deals for your flights. These may change from time to time and you need to grab the best deal !

2.- How can I catch a big Bass ?
You will have the opportunity to break your personal record and more...
We will coach you on all details; how to set the hook and how to hold the fish on the lure, no matter if these are soft or hard baits. You will have the opportunity to hone your fishing skills every trip you make with us.

3.- Tackle & Equipment you will need !
When you book the dates of fishing you will receive a suggested List of Tackle selection by Hono; this will be done at least three weeks prior to your arrival so you can have just the most accurate lures.
I know, someone could tell you this or that lure was working great last year, but do not trust this lead, because this changes every season, sometimes every week !

4. What will I expect ?
Remember, you will be hunting for the biggest Bass at Lake El Salto, so the least thing you will be expecting is that the Bass hit your lure, so do not get surprised and immediately Set the hook ! Never take any chances with a Trophy Bass; they are smart and tricky. Otherwise, you will regret it and it will waive at you saying HASTA LA VISTA COMPADRE !

5. Spawning Season !
Although is really difficult to set a specific month for spawning as we try to be honest all the time, we have recorded they spawn three times a year. The tilapia spawns two times a year; therefore, you will have at least three opportunities to come and fish those trophies at Lake El Salto.
This pic will give you an idea; this is the month of April; the water levels are down and it means we will have the first rain in late june-july. The water temperature is easy on the 80º F. The location of this area is south west at El Salto. I am 6.1’, standing up in one area of 8’ to 16’, I have marked at least 6 Bass Beds; can you imagine how many you could find in the entire lake ? This is just amazing ! I recently met one of the most qualified biologist from UAS ( Sinaloa University ) and he was telling me the symbiosis (Bass & Tilapia) and its interaction at Lake El Salto. Let me tell you, the main Boss is the Bass. Why ? Because the Bass eats Tilapia. The Tilapia eats Plancton which is part of the algaes; the sad thing is the eggs from the Bass Spawning are nested in the algaes and the Tilapia eats these. The good news is this does not ruin the reproduction of the Bass as there are millions and millions of eggs all over the lake.
You can yearly catch a fish on the range of 10”, 26” or over 29”. This means when you catch a 10” LMB, at El Salto it is just a Small Fish, but it also means the Lake is Healthy. Thank god it will remain healthy for a long time. Sometimes, when I am testing new lures and scouting new spots, I see a lot of action, but just small bass; they are jumping all over the place, just like a Tuna School in the ocean; it looks like if the Big Fish is teaching the baby bass how to catch their meal. Because after casting 5 or 6 times, the Trophy Bass jump from the bottom to catch the lure righ in front of the babies. It is awesome to witness something like this.
An amazing fact is how fast the bass grows. The bass is more independent as because as soon as the baby bass can swim, they take their way around. However, the tilapia is more dependable of the mother for a couple of months and they hide in its mouth. Imagine how big they can get.

6.-Hot Spots: how these work ?
Each of our Guides have their own and secret HOT SPOTS; believe me, they know each lure you use.
My advice is that you pay attention to their instructions and throw your lure to a specific spot.
Usually, at your home lakes you have different areas as bushes, rocks, sand, mud and far south-east some trees. Opposite to your home lakes, Lake El Salto has thick vegetation from the month of July to November.

8. I am Amateur, Pro or Semi Professional !
In case you are an amateur, it is very easy to take you catch the big fish, because you will just follow your Guide suggestions.
In case you are a Semi or Professional, we encourage you to do the same.
Follow your Guide instructions to help you land the big fish, because fishing El Salto is not the same technique than fishing your home lakes.

9.- Weather At Lake El Salto?
At Lake El Salto you will not suffer of a DOG DAY during Summer Time.
It depends where are you coming from. Because for instance during Winter Season the temperature is as low as 60F (November to January ) and only early in the morning. As soon as the sun is up the temperature go to a pleasant 80F.
Well during Summer time is the same. The hottest hours are between 8 to 10:30am; after this time a really comfortable breeze start to blow at the lake. We have many customers – they know the fishing action is awesome – and they head south to fish El Salto Fishing Paradise as they hold a lot of trophies during Summer.
Of course, people suffering the coldest Winter up in USA laugh on us because we are freezing during our Winter Season; they truly find our Winter very pleasant.
Fortunately, people coming for the first time they get surprised to find how pleasant our Winter is.
